Professor Doarn was recently recognized by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) with the 2025 Life Sciences Award for his significant contributions in space medicine and the life sciences. Over the past several years, he has contributed to several publications related to human space flight and served as the co-chair of the IAA Study Group SG 2.14 on Medical Support for an International Expedition to Mars, which produced a formal report. An executive summary of this report was published in Acta Astronautica in 2025.
